Site investigations commence in Espoo, Lohja, and Salo

Site investigations pertaining to the new rail link between Helsinki and Turku are commencing in Espoo, Lohja, and Salo in January. Surveys, soil testing, and other preparatory work will be carried out in the areas over the winter and spring.

During the planning stage of the One-hour Turku Rail Link, five separate plans for railway lines are produced comprising the railway sections Espoo–Lohja, Lohja–Salo, Salo–Hajala, Hajala–Nunna, and Nunna–Kupittaa. At this point, site investigations are commenced for the Espoo–Lohja and Lohja–Salo sections.

Two plans produced for the railway line

The site investigations are related to the planning of the railway line between Espoo and Salo.

The planning zone between Espoo and Lohja is located between the western side of the existing Espoo railway station and the western side of the Lempola railway station to be built in Lohja. The plan comprises a new double-track railway line including switches, stations, and station reservations, the bridges, tunnels, and other special structures required by the new railway line, as well as the required road and street connections.

The planning for the railway line between Lohja and Salo is located within the area between the Lempola station in Lohja and Salo railway station. The plan comprises a new double-track railway line including switches, the bridges, tunnels, and other special structures required by the new railway line, as well as the required road and street connections.
